Week One — God Who Meets Us

Day 2 of 30

Yahweh Yireh (Jehovah Jireh)

The LORD Will Provide

"Yireh" (also written Jireh) means "will see to it" or "will provide."

Scripture to read

Genesis 22:13–14 (ESV)

What This Shows Us

God tested Abraham, and at the last moment He provided a ram in place of Isaac. Abraham named that place "The LORD will provide." Christians have long seen this pointing forward to the greatest provision of all: God giving His Son so that we can be forgiven.

Truth to Remember

We can bring our needs to God and trust His wise care. He knows what we need and gives what is truly good, in His way and time.

Reflection question

What need are you placing in God's hands today?

Guided prayer

Lord, You see what I need before I ask. I bring my needs to You honestly today. Thank You most of all for providing salvation in Jesus. Help me trust Your wisdom. Amen.
